Thanksgiving
I forgot to write about the aftermath. I’ll begin by saying we were stuffed…probably more stuffed than the turkey we had. LOL!
MIL was in charge of dinner and she was cooking by 8:30am. There was a huge oven roasted turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, corn, dinner rolls, pumpkin bread and pumpkin pies. Dinner was served at exactly 2:25pm and 20 minutes later, we were all ready to roll off the dinner table towards our favorite hideaways. We made short work of the dirty dishes…thank heavens for dishwashers!
Four hours later, we were at our friends’ house for another T’giving dinner. Her husband went a little overboard and prepared a lot of food…and I mean a lot. He had turkey and ham with all the trimmings, appetizers, and then some. MG didn’t care for the usual thanksgiving fare so she cooked Pinoy food. We had to bring home some of it because there was no way they could go through the leftovers.
T had to make a trip to the potty before we left and it was then that hubby discovered the house behind MG’s was on fire. There were at least 4 fire trucks there and a lot of firemen but we never had a clue. The house was vacant so no one was hurt. The owner was working on remodeling it himself for future sale. Too bad. I hope he had insurance.
All in all, it was a nice Thanksgiving. Being with family and friends is always good. The aftermath was also good: Black Friday shopping for the 1st time, less cooking because of leftovers, and there was the long weekend to recover.
