Treasure Hunting
Garage sale season has started and we’re off “treasure hunting” every weekend. Like they say, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
Last Saturday, I bought more than 20 yards of fabric for $17. At one place, I got about 6 yards of flannel (great for winter jammies) for $5. She had several to choose from but I picked the unisex patterns so I can make jammies for T and me. I got the rest of the fabric (decorator ones) from another lady. Her MIL was an interior decorator and was getting rid of remnants. One roll still had 10 yards of 100% cotton fabric that I could make curtains out of or maybe pillow cases/covers.
Aside from fabric, we also bought pieces of newer Fiestaware for less than $5. I also picked up a number of picture frames (25-50 cents each), scented votive candles, books and other miscellaneous items.
T doesn’t like being woken up very early but he’s usually a good sport. He prefers to stay in the car while we browse and he loves it when we bring back a book or a toy for him. I gave him $1 so he can buy what catches his fancy but he hasn’t spent it yet. Maybe when it gets a little warmer early in the morning he’ll be more inclined to get out of the car and hunt for treasures with us.
