T Update

After months of testing and I’m sure tons of paperwork, we finally got his exceptional children’s test results. He is reading above level and got a “very superior” in math and problem solving. He started gifted class yesterday and he will be in this program next year as well.

He also got tested for visual arts but he was deemed not exceptional. He didn’t do so well in art recognition…whatever that means. He likes to draw but I guess not in a way that artists would consider “artistic.” He is very linear and he is more concerned with being accurate and detailed rather than being…expressive, I guess is the nearest adjective I can come up with. For instance, he has done detailed drawings of the Wii and its accessories that even include the measurements. He can draw you a road map of the city (did I mention he is a walking GPS?) with the street names how they run. He draws what he is interested in and he does them quite well. But if you ask him to draw a flower or a tree, forget it. Let’s just say he’d probably be more of a Frank Lloyd Wright than a Rembrandt or Monet.

He is also a “Student of the Month” at school. There are several picked from each grade and they all had a special lunch with the principal yesterday. He also got a sign to put in our yard. :)
